WE GOT MARRIED!
Introducing... Miha & Rebecca Jo Svetina!

Traveling | Touring Slovenia
Slovenia can be divided into 12 different regions. More info here. Bled and Radovljica, where our wedding is, are in the Gorenjska Region. Below are suggestions for touring different parts of Slovenia, where you can find some promotional videos and pictures of where we've been!
Bled & the area
Bled is where Miha was born and raised (technically he lived for a bit in Begunje, and now lives in Lesce... but all in the Gorenjska region). Rebecca and Miha are also, as of last May, qualified Gorenjska tour guides, so we can offer a wealth of information and suggestions. But since we'll be very preoccupied with wedding planning beforehand, we can also recommend several friends to give you a tour of the area.
Otherwise, we suggest:
walking around Lake Bled (almost 6km), swimming to the island (or taking a Pletna boat if you're not up to the 20 min. swim), going to the castle (7 euro entry fee) and bottling your own wine with a monk, eating kremšnita at Šmon, eating pizza at Rustika, cycling to and walking Vintgar Gorge, swimming in Lake Bohinj or taking a boat ride there with our friend Mitija, visiting and having dinner at the Avsenik museum in Begunje, enjoying a coffee in old town Radovljica (with dinner at Lectar, a visit to the gingerbread museum, and the bee museum), going on one of the many hikes in the area and visiting Triglav National Park...

Ljubljana & the area
The Coast

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. It's where Rebecca first arrived in Slovenia, and has studied, worked, and lived for over 4 years now. Miha and Rebecca enjoy spending time in Ljubljana with friends, at restaurants, shopping, and partying.
We suggest:
strolling old town and the market, walking to the castle, enjoying a coffee/beer/wine/ice cream at an outdoor cafe, getting a "kosilo" (discounted 3-course lunch during the week) by the Ljubljanica River, doing a walking tour, seeing the lock bridge, and if you have a car to get out of the city to Pekel for a hike up past 5 waterfalls– there's also a recommended fish restaurant at the start of it as well. Check out local food tours with our friend, Iva Gruden, who's the founder of "Ljubljananjam". (And you can check ourt an interview she did with Rebecca!) But be sure to book in advance!

Slovenia only has 42 km of coastline, but it's dotted with cute towns, rocky/sandy beaches, and seafood restaurants. Rebecca and Miha did a 2-day cycling trip from Italy to Croatia along the coast, sleeping in their favorite city, Piran.
We suggest:
The giant lemon-lemonade stand in Koper, Pavel 2 in Piran for seafood, swimming in Portoroš, ice cream at Cacao in Portoroš (though if you don't make it to the coast, there's another cafe in Ljubljana along the river), salt flats at sunset, the view on top of the hill above Izola, strolling and exploring the quaint Italian-esque towns...

Other Highlights in Slovenia
Most travelers in Slovenia hit the highlights– Bled, Ljubljana, and the coast. If you have time (and preferably a car) there are a zillion other places to explore.
We suggest:
Goriška Brda and the vineyards, Vršič mountain pass with a drive along the Soča River through Bovec, Logarska Dolina– a walk through a valley to a waterfall, Postojnska Jama (one of largest caves in Europe) / Predjamski Grad (castle), Škocijanske Jame (caves), Lipica horses, thermal spas all over Slovenia...
