Traveling | Touring Neighboring Countries

Hungary

best way to travel:

by car is the fastest,

there's also a very slow train

Official Budapest Tourism Website

www.budapest.com/
We recommend Budapest, where you can eat Goulash, go to affordable authentic spas, buy paprika at the covered market, and find some great parties.

Croatia

best way to travel:

by car, though buses and trains can be convenient if you have the time

Official Croatian Tourism Website

http://croatia.hr/en-GB/Homepage

The islands are the highlight of Croatia. We've been to the islands Krk and Pag together. If you have the time, Split and Dubrovnik are also tourist destinations. We've also been trying to get to the Plitvice lakes.

Austria

best way to travel:

by train or rent a car

Official Vienna Tourism Website
www.wien.info/en
We recommend checking out Vienna and eating wiener schnitzel and  "Sacher torte", the signature chocolate cake.

Official Salzburg Tourism Website

www.salzburg.info/en/

Also visit Salzburg near the German border. The old town is a cute place to walk around and get some "Mozartkugel", the signature candy.

Salzburg Salt Mines

Miha proposed to Rebecca at the Salzburg Salt Mines, complete with an indoor train and slides:

Salzburg Hangar-7

The Red Bull Hangar 7 is also worth seeing.

Slovenia has a lot, but if you want to cross some borders, you have 4 around Slovenia. We have had adventures in each one, so feel free to contact us with travel questions and ideas! And if these aren't enough, there are a lot of other fun places around Europe!

Italy

best way to travel:

by car, but you can also take a van to Venice, then catch trains and buses from there to other parts of Italy

Visit Venice Website

www.venice-tourism.com/en/visit-venice.html

We have been to Venice a few times, and the best travel advice we can offer is:

getting lost is inevitable, so find your way from the train station along the Grand Canal to St. Marcus's square. Enjoy a coffee, gelato, and pizza along one of the side roads. St. Marcus's square has unfathomable high prices. We've never taken a gondola ride, but ferry rides are fun as well between islands. You can also visit the island of Murano to visit the glass museum. Outside of Venice there are a few more daytrips including:

Gardaland (an amusement park)

We haven't traveled as much of Italy as we'd like, but here are a few on our bucket list:

Rome www.turismoroma.it/?lang=en

Cinque Terre www.cinqueterre.it/info.php
